Identify the activities that block scheduling of a specified activity

When you manually schedule an activity, some start times might be invalid. Enterprise Timetabler can identify which activities prevent scheduling for a start time, and determine changes to them that will stop them blocking the start time.

About this task: If you make the activity changes that are described in the Moveable Activities window, the start time might remain invalid. It might be invalid because of items other than activities. For example, the activity's module might be unavailable.

To identify blocking activities, follow these steps:

  1. When you manually schedule or reschedule an activity, timetable cells that represent invalid start times contain coloured bars. To identify any blocking activities, right-click in the timetable cell, then click Show moveable activities in the menu that opens.
  2. In the Moveable Activities window, review the list of blocking activities. Ticks indicate the type of change that you can make to each activity, so that it no longer blocks the specified start time.

    Change type

Alternative resources can be allocated to the activity. It remains scheduled at the same time.

The activity is scheduled for a different time. The new time might be on the same day, or a different day. The activity's resource allocation is unchanged.

The activity is scheduled for a different time, and it is allocated alternative resources.

Note: An activity that has no tick in any of its check boxes cannot be prevented from blocking the selected activity. In this scenario, the start time cannot be made valid for the selected activity.

  3. To close the Moveable Activities window, click OK.
