You can specify the resources that an activity requires. You can also specify the days and time that the activity must be scheduled for. If an activity is scheduled but its requirements are not satisfied, generates scheduling problems.
You can create flexible requirements for resources. A flexible requirement can be satisfied by any appropriate resource. For more information about flexible requirements, see Add a flexible resource requirement to an activity.
- Resources are allocated when the activity is scheduled. So, if you
drag and drop to reschedule an activitythat has flexible resource requirements, might change which resources are allocated to it. For greater control over resource allocation when you reschedule an activity, see Choose a day and time when alternative resources are available.
You can create preset requirements for resources, and for days and a time:
- A preset requirement for resources is satisfied when all the specified resources are allocated to the activity. See Add a preset resource requirement to an activity.
- A preset requirement for days and a time is satisfied when the activity is scheduled for the specified days and time. See Add preset days and time to an activity.
You can also reserve a specific number of items from a pooled resource. Pooled resources are a set of resources (such as microscopes) that are not individually identified and of which several items might be required for an activity. See Add a requirement for pooled resources to an activity.
