Double book \ Under resource \ Off
The Double book, Under resource, and Off settings in the Scheduling Options area control how handles competing demands for the same item. There is a separate setting for student sets, staff members, locations, and equipment items.
If the Double book option is selected, then will double book an item if it is necessary to do so in order to schedule an activity. For example, will schedule two activities that have a preset requirement for the same location at the same time, and the location will be allocated to both activities. The following actions occur:
In the Constraints window, the Avoid Double Booking Constraint for the corresponding item type is set to be Never applied.
- If a resource is double booked, an Avoid Double Booking Constraint problem is generated.
If the Under resource option is selected, then does not double book an item if it is required by two activities at the same time. Both activities are scheduled, but the item is allocated to only one of them. The following actions occur:
In the Constraints window, the Avoid Double Booking Constraint for the corresponding item type is set to be Always applied.
- The activity that is not allocated the resources that it requires has an Avoid Resource Mismatch problem.
If the Off option is selected, then whether double books items depends on
- If the Avoid Double Booking Constraint for the corresponding item type is Never applied, then double books items of that type.
- If the constraint is Always applied, or Usually applied (and is not in constraint breaking mode), then one of the activities that is competing for the resource is scheduled; the other competing activities are not scheduled.
