Merge variants

You can delete a variant and add the weeks that form its teaching week pattern to a sibling variant. For example, a variation in resource allocation for specific weeks might no longer be necessary.

To merge variants, follow these steps:

  1. In the Activities pane, click the variant activity that you want to merge into a sibling. You can select multiple variants of the same parent.

    Note: If you select all but one of the variants of an activity, then during step 2 the Delete Variant Activities window does not open. Instead, Enterprise Timetabler deletes the selected variant activities and adds their weeks to the last remaining variant. Then, Enterprise Timetabler removes the variant structure.

  2. In the Edit menu, click Merge Variant Weeks. The Delete Variant Activities window opens. Its upper table lists the variant activity that you selected. Its lower table lists its sibling variant activities.

    Note: If you click Delete Activity in the Edit menu, the Delete Variant Activities window opens. The Delete these activities completely option is selected by default.

  3. Click one of the following options. Then, if you clicked Delete this activity and add the weeks to the selected activity, click an activity in the lower table.

    The variant is deleted. The weeks that form its teaching week pattern are not added to a sibling variant. So, the activity is no longer taught during those weeks.

    Delete this activity and add the weeks to the selected activity

    The variant is deleted. The weeks that form its teaching week pattern are added to the sibling activity that you selected in the lower table.

  4. Click OK.
